Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we are asked most often, answered plainly.
Choosing a system
What comes in a complete karaoke system?
Amplifier, speakers, two UHF wireless handheld microphones, and the cables needed to connect them. Impedance and power matching is already done, so you do not have to work out whether the amplifier suits the speakers.
What size system do I need?
Start from the room, not the wattage. Our Karaoke Solutions page groups systems by room size, from small living rooms up to function halls.
Ceiling height, room shape, furnishings and how loudly your group actually sings all change the answer, so if you are between two sizes, call us and describe the space.
What is the difference between passive and powered speakers?
Passive speakers have no amplifier inside and must be driven by a karaoke mixing amplifier or power amplifier. Most of our Ampyon karaoke speakers are passive.
Powered speakers have amplification built in and often a small mixer with microphone inputs — the Bose L1 Pro and S1 Pro+, QSC KC12 and CB10, and JBL PartyBox models are all powered.
Can I just sing through a Bluetooth speaker?
Not well. A standard Bluetooth speaker has no microphone input, and Bluetooth adds enough delay that hearing your own voice a moment late makes singing difficult.
If you want something portable to sing through, look at a JBL PartyBox model with microphone inputs, or an all-in-one karaoke speaker such as the Ampyon Starbox III or Oris TX 252.
Do I need to buy microphones separately?
Usually not. Most ATN and Ampyon karaoke amplifiers include a built-in two-channel UHF wireless receiver and a pair of handheld microphones. Buy a separate microphone set only if you need extra channels, a spare pair, or a better receiver than the built-in one.
Setting up
Can I connect this to my Smart TV and sing along to YouTube?
Yes. Our karaoke amplifiers connect to a TV over HDMI, optical or Bluetooth, depending on the model, so YouTube karaoke tracks play through the system while the microphones mix on top.
For the lowest delay, use HDMI or optical rather than Bluetooth.
How do I match an amplifier to a pair of speakers?
Two numbers matter:
- Rated power. Our passive speakers list a maximum input power per pair — for example 900W per pair means 450W per speaker.
- Impedance. Most of our speakers are 8 ohms nominal. Connecting several pairs lowers the total load, and it must stay within what your amplifier supports.
Clean amplifier power and sensible gain settings protect speakers better than a large wattage number does. If you are unsure, send us the model names and we will confirm the pairing.
Can I add more speakers later?
Often yes. Speakers with Speakon input and output can be daisy-chained, provided the combined load stays inside your amplifier’s supported range. Several of our amplifiers also have a subwoofer output for adding low end later.
Do you help choose a system?
Yes, and we would rather do that than have you guess. Tell us the room dimensions, ceiling height, roughly how many people sing, and what equipment you already own.
Ordering & delivery
Where do you ship?
We ship to the 48 contiguous US states and Washington DC.
For Alaska, Hawaii, US territories or APO/FPO addresses, contact us and we will quote shipping separately — these destinations cannot be checked out online.
How much is shipping?
Standard shipping is $8, and free on orders of $200 or more. Express shipping is $15. Your exact rate is confirmed at checkout.
How long does delivery take?
Most orders are processed within 24 hours. After that, standard delivery typically takes 5–7 business days and express delivery 2–3 business days.
Full details are in our shipping policy.
The speakers are heavy. How do they arrive?
Several of our cabinets weigh 40–80 lb each and ship in their own boxes. Larger items may come by freight carrier, who will call to schedule delivery.
Plan for two people to receive and move them, and inspect the packaging before signing — transit damage is much easier to resolve when it is reported immediately.
Can I return something?
Yes. Most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, in like-new condition, with the original packaging and all accessories. Full conditions are in our refund policy.
Who pays return shipping: on a change of mind you pay one way; on an exchange we cover both ways; on anything defective or damaged on arrival we cover it.
Buying from us
Are the Bose, JBL and QSC products genuine?
Yes. Everything we list from those brands is new, boxed stock — not refurbished or open-box — and carries the manufacturer’s own warranty in addition to ours.
What warranty do I get?
A one-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Full terms are on our Warranty page.
Still not sure? Describe your room and we will recommend a system that fits.
